I'm Imelda, the breeder behind Delta Dachshunds located in Oakley, CA. We're a small AKC breeding program dedicated to raising happy, healthy Dachshund puppies.   • Why did you start breeding?

    Our first four doxies were from shelters, rescue, or from client breeders from the Veterinary office where I worked. We have owned Dachshunds since 2000 but it wasn’t until 2022 that we decided we loved them so much we wanted to start raising them and participating in AKC conformation shows and performance sports such as FastCAT, nose work and Barn Hunting! Additionally, we rescued two more senior Doxies during the pandemic.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, chocolate and cream, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Imelda

Imelda has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Imelda partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $3,300 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Imelda may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. Delta Dachshunds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Dachshunds.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Generalized, DNA Profile

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Imelda was so lovely to work with. Very responsive to all of my questions and did a great job matching us with our puppy— he fits right in with our family! She sent weekly updates as the puppies grew and gave recommendations for supplies and books to read to prepare for your new family member. You can tell she really cares a lot about her dogs and gets them set up for success. Training a puppy is challenging but we honestly think she set Bucatini up for success and he has been handing socialization and potty training like a champ! The vet even commented on how healthy he was and said we must have gotten him from a great breeder and I agree. I would absolutely work with Imelda again :)

    Imelda was amazing! From the get go Imelda called me and answered all my questions about Jasper. I loved how the health information of mom and dad was extensive and clear. Mom and dad are also show dogs! So you know she really takes care of her doggies. It shows that she loves her doggies because when I was on my first initial call with her she answered all my question and she asked me questions as well to make sure that Jasper was going to a good home. She gave me updates every week with pictures and videos on how Jasper was doing. She also communicated some advice to make the transition to Jasper coming home smoother. During pick up Imelda was kind enough to bring us a goodie bag filled with toys, treats, and information about what to expect. When I finally got Jasper, he was well potty trained and crate trained! The first night was easier than expected because Imelda already introduced crate training to Jasper! Imelda was amazing to work with, and when Jasper needs a sibling I know where to go to!
