I'm Dave and Mary G., the breeder behind Desert Horizon Dachshunds located in Fredonia, AZ. As conscientious breeders, we are proud of the loving, smart, beautiful, and sound puppies we’re able to provide for others. It’s been such a pleasure to be able to watch every stage of puppy life!   • Why did you start breeding?

    I’ve always loved and have had animals since I was a small child. I can’t remember a time where my family didn’t raise dogs or horses.

  • What makes your program special?

    The time and dedication we put into our dogs and puppies. They are not outside kennel dogs, they are indoor family pets and a part of our life every single day. Their well being and care are priority.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, cream, brindle, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, black and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Dave and Mary partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $400 non-refundable deposit and between $1,850 - $2,450 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Dave and Mary were great to work with. Super easy making arrangements for pick up. Honey is one of the best doxies I’ve owned so far. Great temperament, happy, friendly, bold, and easy going. I’ve owned over a half dozen in my lifetime, and so far she is what you expect from a Doxie. She is my first cream Doxie. She came in good health, no issues so far. My kids and our other Doxie blended quickly. I mean who doesn’t like doxies? Especially other doxies.

    Dave and Mary were the absolute kindest people. They were very attentive and informative all throughout this process. I love the fact that they like to keep up with the pups that they’ve homed because it just shows that they care. I will be forever grateful to them because I now have my forever best friend.
