I'm Cecelia L., the breeder behind Desert in the South Standard Poodles located in North Port, FL. We enjoy showing our dogs, & they are our companions in every adventure. We do all we can to give our dogs & pups the best lives. Showing our dogs has become a huge part of our life. We’re proud of the health, conformation, and temperament of the dogs we produce.

Getting a puppy from Cecelia
Cecelia has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Cecelia partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.
“At 8 weeks old the puppies will be evaluated by a canine behavioral professional to determine the best home environment for each puppy to thrive in. They will be introduced to puppy ENS and puppy culture. Starting at 3 weeks old the puppies will begin being trained on table manners for grooming as I am a professional groomer of 10 years. They will be raised in my home with a 4 year old toddler and exposed to different environments. ”

Litter update on 20 Apr •…Valentino did what he does in the AKC ring and earned the final point he needed to be a champion AKC dog. Congratulations to our friends at Brivali Poodles they deserve it. Valentino is even better looking in person and he has an amazing coat. I’m so excited for pregnancy confirmation in May

Litter update on 19 Apr •…Yesterday Valentino took Winner’s Dog for a 3 point major. This leaves one single point left for him to be a champion. I am sure he will be finished by the time the puppies are confirmed. Congratulations to Brivali’s Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy ATT CGC

Litter update on 31 Mar •…I am so excited to officially reveal the sire for our upcoming litter! Valentino is a beautiful apricot boy with an exceptional pedigree and lovely temperament. Not to mention he’s absolutely gorgeous. These puppies will be given the best possible care before going home with Puppy Culture and ENS as well as being raised in my home with my 4 year old. While I am breeding for show dog quality, my dogs being stable and sound family dogs comes first and always will. I am so excited for this generation

Litter update on 04 Nov 2025 •…Happy birthday puppies! I can’t believe these beauties have already reached a year old! I have a special gift for every one of them if you haven’t sent me your mailing address please do. Dutch and I went to Ocala for a dog show where he showed for the last time in puppy trim and he took best of winners, he just needs 2 majors to finish!

Litter update on 21 May 2025 •…The Greater fort myers dog show was this past weekend and we were busy! I apologize to anyone I have failed to respond to during that time I am just getting back into “normal” life and out of my dog show land. Both Dutch and Ivy entered the AKC ring this weekend where Dutch took first place one of the days and got to go back in for best of winners! He didn’t win anything but he looked fabulous and happy to be there! This marks his second show in AKC and he was a rockstar both times. This was Ivy’s first time in the show ring and I’m so proud of her for behaving but also for giving me everything she had and managed to snag second place out of a class of three. In this same weekend mama Azalea came along with and had some fastcat fun where she absolutely crushed her previous times on past runs! She had a blast and my son Orion loved getting to help me in the catch pen. Come see us in Tampa for our next dog show and meet the pups. Also during this same weekend I inputted the information of all owners into AKC so hopefully you guys will each get an email with the steps I need to take next. I have had issues with their website crashing while I tried to register my pups and had to do it over the phone which takes forever but I will do it for each puppy if this doesn’t work. Litter update on 01 Apr 2025 •…Dutch (formerly “Stripe”) made his AKC show debut this past weekend and he showed beautifully! I’m so proud of this entire litter but I did get some great feedback from a judge that I’ve actually shown their mother to! Sweet Ivy came along with for some exposure to show life before she makes her weekend entrance in the show ring in May!

Litter update on 17 Dec 2024 •…This last week has been filled with fun and learning. Puppies had their first spa day at the salon I work at and we finished the day with a Christmas photoshoot. The puppies received their custom made collars in the mail that they will be going home with. I sent in the AKC litter registration paperwork so their registration will be complete soon. They have also begun potty training and are taking well to it. They are on dry puppy kibble and get a feeding of raw meat once a day and they LOVE it! I will be providing one 16 oz packet of their raw food to go home with

Litter update on 04 Dec 2024 •…Puppies are 4 weeks old tomorrow and growing fabulously. They have started eating puppy mush and they love it. They have had an amazing opportunity to be raised in my home with my toddler and they love him and show no fear of the small person. They have had their faces and feet shaved twice now and have responded well to the grooming introductions

About Azalea
Azalea is a female Poodle over 5 years old. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Cecelia decided to make her part of their program. Cecelia has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

I am so in love with Sterling. She is a bundle of pure joy. Sterling is thriving and that is because Cecelia was an attentive and responsible breeder, meeting all of the puppies' needs before sending them to their forever homes. Cecelia was very easy to work with throughout the process of the puppy becoming mine. She was thoughtful and caring about the puppies and I wish her luck in her future breeding adventures.
