Meet the breeder

I'm Leah D., the breeder behind DesForges Dachshunds. located in Lowell, IN. Having a dog in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! We fell in love with the breed because of their intelligence and personality. There’s hardly a better feeling than being able to share them with other families that will love them the way that we do!

Q. & A. with Leah

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in Love with the breed after bringing home my first Dachshund Zelda, she was the absolute best dog I've ever had and I wanted to share her personality and character with others through her puppies! She is retired and fixed now and still living her best life with us at 10 years old ❤️
  • What makes your program special?

I breed for structure and temperament over color. I also want to pass down good instincts and a willingness to hunt and track as the breed was intended to do.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
