Meet the breeder

I'm Amber T., the breeder behind Devoted Dachshunds located in Gladewater, TX. We are proud to be Licensed Texas Breeder 448. We are dedicated to preserving this beautiful breed for future generations. We strive to adhere to the breed standards, and are committed to providing families with healthy, well-socialized companions. All of our dogs are raised as family pets. Our puppies are kept inside our home only, to not only provide optimum socialization, but also to give them the absolute best start to a healthy future. We strive to place each and every puppy into a permanent home. Every puppy will come with proof of vaccination by our veterinarian, registration papers to trace your puppy’s genetic heritage, and a lifetime health guarantee against congenital defects. To prevent any of our dogs from finding themselves discarded, every puppy’s contract requires the owner to contact us in the event they are no longer able to provide a stable and loving home. All of our puppies are sold strictly as PETS ONLY, we no longer sell with breeding rights after numerous negative outcomes. "Dog and cat breeders are regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, P.O. Box 12157, Austin, Texas 78711”.

Q. & A. with Amber

  • Why did you start breeding?

My parents owned a breeding program (German Shepherds). As a child, I grew up learning the ins and outs of animal husbandry. I purchased my first Dachshund as a teen, and quickly fell in love with the breed’s loyalty and tenacious spirit. 14 years ago, my oldest daughter suffered a neonatal stroke, and as a result developed cerebral palsy. It was no longer possible for me to work outside the home and provide the care she needed, so I decided to go back to my roots. I began my own breeding program for Dachshunds in 2014, and have worked hard to improve our program ever since.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is unique in that our dogs are raised in our home, and allowed to retire with dignity and care. We purchased a property with a rich history, it began as Hart Hospital, then became Everett Funeral home. We have converted the building into our private home with a designated “dog wing”, so that all of our dogs are able to have room to whelp and raise their puppies in a safe, comfortable environment, while still being socialized with our children, two Great Danes, and multiple cats!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We got our sweet girl from Amber and had an amazing experience! Amber was so kind, personable, and made sure to keep us updated on our girl. Not only is Amber extremely knowledgeable about the breed, she is clearly PASSIONATE about them and what she does. Our experience never felt like a transaction, Amber without a doubt loves these pups and puts everything into making sure they are safe, healthy, and taken care of. I couldn’t be more thankful we found Devoted Dachshunds and got our beautiful pup!

Amber was AMAZING. I’ve never done this process before so I was really nervous connecting with someone & trusting them to follow through. She is completely trustworthy, professional, friendly, overall wonderful! She would update me with pictures or videos at any time without even asking for it. She would STILL take the time to message me back out of her busy schedule. I have recommended her to anyone who is looking & if I ever get another dox I will be sure to work through her. SOOO filled with happiness with my Rosie girl. Thank you Amber!

Amber was supper amazing throughout the entire process. Despite recently welcoming 2 new family members she kept us informed throughout the entire process until pick up day. She sent us pictures of our puppy’s parents and grand-parents. She also answered all of our questions before deciding on our pup. If I were to recommend anyone to get a well bred pup I would refer them to her!

Amber I can’t express how grateful I am to have found such a kind, responsible, and loving breeder. From the very beginning, she was patient, caring, and always willing to answer every question I had. It’s so clear how much love and dedication she puts into raising her puppies my little girl came home healthy, happy, and full of confidence. Along the way, we experienced an unexpected and emotional challenge, and I was deeply touched by how she responded with honesty, compassion, and the utmost humanity. It showed me not only her integrity as a breeder, but the goodness of her heart. The entire process felt warm and personal, not like a transaction but like being welcomed into a little family. She truly cares about the well-being of each pup, even after they go to their new homes. I still feel supported and know I can reach out to her anytime. If you’re looking for a breeder who raises puppies with heart, responsibility, and genuine love, I couldn’t recommend her more. Thanks to her, I now have the sweetest little baby, and I couldn’t be more grateful . 💛

I feel incredibly lucky and blessed that I found Amber and her awesome business when I was searching for a puppy. With so many breeders out there it was hard to tell who to go with at first, but I searched a good while and found my puppy Lucy on Amber’s profile. She’s more than deserving of all the positive reviews you see. From the start she was extremely helpful with answering all the questions I had and provided a great list of recommended items that made preparing so much easier. The pickup process was great and Amber had my puppy’s vet documentation and an information document of her own ready to go for mine and each of the puppies that were getting picked up. She always gets back to you quickly on any questions you think of along the way before puppy pickup and any you have after. She really does all she can to start you and your puppy’s journey on the right foot! I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again. Working with her is well worth the wait if she doesn’t have litters or the puppy you’re looking for when you first find her page, and is worth the drive/trip if you’re a little far from her and are hesitant on the distance!!

Amber was very responsive and was very knowledgeable about the breed. Anytime I had questions or was looking for updates she always responded in a timely manner and even offered FaceTimes with me so I could meet my puppy before travelling to go pick him up. I would definitely, without a doubt, buy another puppy from Devoted Dachshunds and would highly recommend Amber !!!!!! My puppy, Garry is so perfect… he is extremely cuddly, loves to play and so smart!!!
