Meet the breeder

I'm Jae K., the breeder behind Dirt Road Doxies located in O'donnell, TX. We are a small breeding program specializing in quality, genetically screened, miniature dachshunds in the West Texas area. Our dogs are family to us and all puppies are well handled, socialized and loved on a daily basis. We live on a small, family operated farm, so dogs are introduced to and familiar with multitude of animals; including other dogs, cats, chickens, pigs, goats, cows, etc. They are also used to children.

Q. & A. with Jae

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have been breeding various animals on my farm for many years to support my hobby farm. When I got my first miniature Doxie I fell absolutely in love with the breed and knew I wanted a couple more! With my background in genetic testing I knew I wanted to share my love of the breed by raising genetically healthy and AKC registered babies for other families to love.
  • What makes your program special?

My breeding program is special because every single animal we own is loved and cared for daily. They are apart of our family, not here to do a job. Our pups are well socialized with many different species of animals including cats and other dogs. They are also handled by children, as we are a family operated program.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, chocolate, fawn (isabella), chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
