I'm Sandy M., the breeder behind Discovery Dachs located in Coeur D Alene, ID. We breed and raise miniature, longhaired Dachshunds in a variety of patterns and colors. Our top priority is producing puppies with excellent temperaments and health that are true to the breed standard.
Q. & A. with Sandy
Why did you start breeding?
We are longtime lovers of the Dachshund breed. My first childhood dog was a standard red, named Suzie. After several years of researching and talking with experienced breeders, we decided it was time to give it a try. We took great care to acquire full AKC registered dogs with excellent temperament and conformation with which to begin our own lines.
What makes your program special?
Our dogs live in our home and are part of our family. They go with us on boating and backpacking trips, and they snuggle with us on the couch at night.
Our puppy nursery is located adjacent to our main living area, allowing us to keep a close eye on their development while popping in regularly for visits and cuddles. Our puppies are exposed to all the experiences and sounds of a busy household.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include cream, red, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

I received my shaded cream boy Obi-Wan from Sandy. She was very quick and responsive to inquires. She was helpful with going through the process of adaption. Once we met up she had a wonderful puppy care-package to help with the transition from her home to mine. I love my boy and would totally recommend adapting from Sandy at Discovery Dachs.
