Why did you start breeding?
My journey as a breeder began with a deep appreciation for the Rough Collie’s intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. Over time, I have focused on thoughtful pairings that prioritize health, temperament, and structure, always striving to better the breed. It has been a rewarding path of learning, dedication, and connection with each litter and the families they join.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program stands out for its focus on well-rounded Rough Collies with strong health, steady temperaments, and true versatility. Each pairing is carefully planned with attention to structure, genetics, and purpose, producing dogs suited for farm work, companionship, conformation, and service roles. Hands-on experience in veterinary care and whelping support ensures each litter receives knowledgeable, attentive care from birth
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and white, sable, and black white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Getting a puppy from Josta

Josta has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Josta partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and between $750 - $1,750 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This price includes AKC paper work, breeding discussed and conditional. All age appropriate vetting goes home with puppies. You ARE able to meet them before deciding, Deposit IS required to reserve. We try to match each puppy to their family based on personality. But we also do work with preferences of gender and coat color.”

Josta may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
