Meet the breeder

I'm Dena C., the breeder behind DJ Yorkies located in Hope, IN. DJ Yorkies is a small, family-run Yorkshire Terrier program where every puppy is raised in our home as part of daily family life. From birth, our puppies are loved on, handled daily, and socialized with normal household sounds and routines to help them grow into confident, affectionate companions.

Q. & A. with Dena

  • Why did you start breeding?

Combining my love for birth, babies, and animals with this amazing breed felt like the perfect fit, and DJ Yorkies grew from that love and excitement into the family-centered program it is today.
  • What makes your program special?

What makes my breeding program special is that it’s truly a family effort built on love and hands-on care. My dogs and puppies aren’t raised in a separate building or kennel; they grow up right in the middle of our home and daily life. My kids are very involved from the beginning, helping with gentle handling, socialization, and lots of snuggles.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include chocolate and tan, parti, blue and gold, black and tan, and black and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
