I'm Joanna F., the breeder behind Double Dare Shelties located in Abilene, TX. DDS small breeding program. I am committed to producing healthy, beautiful companions for other families to love. I only have 1 to 2 litters per year which allows me devote lots of attention to each litter. My breeding pairs have been DNA tested with Embark or Animal Genetics. All dogs have been examined by a licensed veterinarian to be healthy, up to date on all vaccines and mature enough to be bred.
Q. & A. with Joanna
Why did you start breeding?
The most rewarding part of being a breeder is knowing how much joy and love you are giving to a new puppy owner.
What makes your program special?
My dogs and puppies are raised in my home and in constant care and contact with my entire family. (Including my 6 yr old grandson.) Over the last year we have implemented “Empowered Breeder” practices to our breeding program. This system applies controlled curriculum, developmental training and puppy evaluations to every litter we produce. We encourage the potential puppy parent to “get to know” the puppy before they reserve a puppy to purchase. During this process, we thoroughly evaluate the traits and characteristics you desire in a puppy/dog and match those traits to the puppies we have available in our program. We provide our clients with puppy evaluations and recommendations and allow the client to use this information to select the puppy they want.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
