Meet the breeder

I'm Abby M., the breeder behind Dragonfly Doxies located in Waseca, MN. We are a small, in-home breeder specializing in miniature dachshunds, passionate about raising top-quality puppies focusing on health, temperament, and early socialization. Our mission is to provide well-adjusted, affectionate companions that bring lasting joy and love. With a commitment to excellence and care, we raise our puppies in a nurturing environment to ensure they are ready to become cherished members of your family.

Q. & A. with Abby

  • Why did you start breeding?

I’ve always had a deep love for dogs—four-legged companions have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As I approach retirement, I’ve found more time to dedicate to caring for these wonderful animals who are not just pets, but cherished members of the family. This new chapter allows me to share that joy by helping bring loving, well-raised puppies into the lives of other families.

  • What makes your program special?

At Dragonfly Doxies, each of our adult dogs undergoes Embark genetic testing and will receive OFA health clearances at the appropriate ages. As an AKC breeder, we are committed to raising dogs that meet both health and breed‑standard expectations. Our dogs are truly part of the family—they live in our home, enjoy daily interaction with our grandchildren, and are raised with plenty of outdoor playtime, a nutritious diet, and an abundance of love and attention.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, fawn (isabella), fawn (isabella) and cream, blue and cream, black and tan, blue and tan, chocolate and cream, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We had the best experience working with Abby! She was very knowledgeable and passionate about dachshunds and able to answer any questions we had. She was super responsive and even sent updates about Mac (previously Doug) before pick up. We planned to crate train, and Abby was kind enough to start this process before we got him! It has been super helpful, and he sleeps right through the night! She sent Mac home with some toys and other goodies that are now some of his favorites! We’re so happy with our pup and glad we chose Dragonfly Doxies! :)

Easy peasy from the get go! Abby was available and answered our questions quickly as well as with kindness. Abby was great at giving updates, sending videos and pictures of our puppy- totally not expected but very appreciated. We couldnt be happier with our Marlie Bean and Abby’s help that brought her into our family.

We had the most amazing experience working with Abby while adding a new puppy to our family. She was incredibly responsive and answered all of our questions as we navigated being first-time puppy parents. She was also more than willing to FaceTime and talk with us, which was extremely helpful. Our puppy, Bruno (whom we’ve since renamed Dash), is perfect. It was clear how loved and well cared for he was during his time with Abby at Dragonfly Doxies. Even after we brought him home, Abby has remained available for support and advice. Overall, she made the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free! I’d definitely recommend choosing dragonfly doxies!

I had a wonderful experience with Abby. The process of choosing a puppy can be overwhelming. But she was very happy to help me. The video call was the deciding factor. I was able to see the puppy and talk to Abby . Brooks is a beautiful pup. Thank you!

We had the best experience working with Abby from Dragonfly Doxies! We happened to meet another family that had adopted from a previous litter and learned about them. After submitting our application, Abby reached out and we were able to set up a FaceTime with the adorable little guy that we were hoping to adopt! It was clear right away, that these puppies are well cared for and loved up until the point they go home. We were able to get updates and pictures each week. When we picked Gary up, he was just perfect and the transition home has gone very well. Abby did a great job exposing him to different sounds and activities. He is now learning all about his new home and seems very comfortable. We are so happy we found Abby and Dragonfly Doxies. We would highly recommend working with Abby!
