We are now approx 16 days out from the birthdate of this litter! With each day that passes, Torrhyn becomes a little more needy and emotionally attached to me. This actually begins long before she’s actually “showing” physical signs of being pregnant, like around day 15 ish. That’s how I always know well in advance that the mating has been successful with this girl. 🥰 The initial behavior confirmation occurs and then plateaus for the first month and a half, and then markedly increases again as she nears her due date. Her increased affection and proximity prompting me to begin to imagine the upcoming litter, and wonder what variety of little buns she will bake up for us. 🥰 STAY TUNED !!!

These babies are growing every single day! They have healthy appetites, and move around a whole bunch following the “milk bar” of Momma Tinks on demand breakfast lunch and dinner diner :) I love this stage when they are so tiny and innocent, but I cannot wait for there to be some eyes cracking open, and some walking and running around! The first three weeks are the easiest and most laid back of all the weeks in the origin home. Round about that fourth week, the work seems to triple, but the reward does as well, as you really begin to see those beautiful little personalities shining through.

Kayce C.
Mother dog Tink just discovered her “Big Brother” (motion activated camera) above her kennel den. 😆 She isn’t sure about what kind of noises it is making, and even less sure about how it seems to be moving around! You can bet if those puppers were not nursing, she’d be taking a closer look at that thing.

The little angels have arrived!! Five puppies: three girls and two boys. Cream and Fawn and Cream dapples. Most all will be available for adoption but the three females need a little more evaluation before I decide which one is being retained for the program here at DrakeFire Dachshunds

Mother dog Tink has faired excellent through her pregnancy and is getting close to her date of whelping. I can gauge this by observing that her belly has drooped lower into a more “hanging” position vs the previous look of her belly was close to body on the underside and outward protruding on each side. When looking downward at her from above, you can now see her waistline is more pronounced since her belly is drooping toward the floor. When she is laying beside me on the couch, I can feel the babies moving under her skin against my leg. If I place my hand gently on her tummy, I can feel them rolling and kicking just below my hand. It’s a magical time for us here at DrakeFire Dachshunds, with a similar vibe as to Christmas Morning 🎁 🐾 😇 Will update soon!

About Torrhyn
Torrhyn is an outgoing, adventure-seeking longhaired miniature Dachshund with a sharp, alert nature and a heart of gold. She’s always ready for the next outing—whether she’s hunting lizards, riding the ATV with mom, or showing off her enthusiasm during a game of fetch. Torrhyn has a natural gift with puppies and is wonderfully patient and nurturing, even with those that aren’t her own. True to her Dachshund instincts, she’ll sound the alarm with a confident bark, but it doesn’t take long before she’s rolling over for belly rubs from anyone—kids, friends, or new faces alike. Easygoing with other dogs and full of personality, Torrhyn is especially known for her signature “bark chew,” a hilarious little “nom nom nom” at the end of her bark that never fails to make people smile.

Kayce was far and away the most involved, responsive, and trustworthy breeder we encountered. My favorite part about her is that she interviewed us just as much as we interviewed her. That reassured is that her pups and their parents are so well cared for. Kayce also hung with us as we gave her a bit of a rollercoaster on our decision. Couldn't be happier with the experience!

Little Leone is doing great and I couldn't be more appreciative of Kayce and DrakeFire Dachshunds!! He has the best little personality and temperament. Our first visit to our vet at home went extremely well and they had nothing but good reports as well on his health. Kayce was very responsive and helpful from day one. I would be flying with Little Leone and I was nervous because he had found his voice the day before we left to fly home. But he did ABSOLUTELY great and slept the WHOLE 3-hour flight! Kayce was very helpful at telling me what I needed to fly with him, and we had no problems! I'd recommend DrakeFire Dachshunds to anyone who asks!! Kayce estimates Leone to be 8-13 lbs full grown and I'm very hopeful and confident in him being within that range. :) Thank you Kayce and all involved at DrakeFire--you make special little babies and he is spoiled rotten! <3

Kayce was incredible during the process of getting our sweet puppy. We hit multiple roadblocks with our own transport to getting our little guy but Kayce was so understanding and responsive. It was obvious how much she cared for the puppy, as well as the people she was entrusting the puppy to. I would highly recommend!

I would wholeheartedly recommend Kayce to anyone looking for a wonderful breeder and an amazing puppy. She was incredibly helpful and always quick to respond to any questions I had. She provided weekly updates throughout the process, which made the entire experience feel transparent and reassuring. It was clear how much care and love she puts into her dogs. In the end, I brought home the happiest, healthiest mini dachshund, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

We had such a great experience with Kayce! She is very responsive and knowledgeable about the dachshund breed. She answered all our questions, including a long phone call to help us prepare to bring our pup home. She also sent updates with photos and videos as we waited for our gotcha day. We were looking for a Christmas puppy for our kids, but the litter wasn't ready to go home until early January. Kayce went out of her way to help us surprise the kids by taking many adorable photos of the pup that we could show them on Christmas morning. When we arrived to pick up our pup, he was bathed and all ready to go home. Kayce gave us a bag to take home with food, treats, a travel leash, and the pup's health record with all of his vaccine information. We also got to meet the pup's mom and dad. We could tell that Kasey really loves her dogs and takes great care of them. We are so happy with our sweet baby! Thank you, Kayce!
