Meet the breeder

I'm Beth J., the breeder behind Dry Pond Retrievers, LLC located in Johnston, SC. At Dry Pond Retrievers and Kennel, we're not just breeding dogs; we're creating family members. We specialize American Labrador Retrievers in Chocolate, Black and Yellow. We're known for our dedication to finding the perfect home for each puppy, ensuring a seamless fit into your family.

Q. & A. with Beth

  • Why did you start breeding?

My husband, Bill and I have owned Labs since 1988, but it was after our first litter in 2013, that I found my passion in life. We kept a female, Sadie from that 1st breeding and she has gone on to earn her Hunter Retriever Champion (HRCH) title and Master Hunter title with 2 Master National passes. Our passion for raising puppies expanded to whelping and raising puppies for other breeders.
  • What makes your program special?

It means that we focus on making each puppy the best it can be, whether it is destined to be a competition, hunting or family companion. We focus heavily on the bitches lifestyle prior to and during pregnancy. We create an enriching environment for the pups in order to develop their brains and bodies. Our activities and toys help build confidence and create problem-solving abilities.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

My experience with Dry Pond and Beth was more than easy. To be honest I didn't really know who I was adopting from just knew Sumter (formerly T-Rex) was the one for me! After picking him up and seeing the property and other dogs you can see this is their passion and absolutely love their dogs. Sumter has been amazing and at a mer 13 weeks fully potty trained, crate trained, basic commands sit, stay, come, and feel its all due to starting off right which they clearly provide! Wouldn't of wanted this process to go any other way and Sumter has his forever home! Thank you

We knew that we wanted a chocolate. What we didn't expect was to be introduced to a seasoned and super caring breeder. Sunny comes from an immaculate bloodline, and though only nine weeks, she has made it clear that she will forever be a loyal companion. It's a definite plus if you have a water source for these pups as they are agile and innate swimmers. Beth, from the get go, was very interested in our lifestyle to see if there may be a fit. She was more concerned about Jazz X Jackson's pups than trying to find them a home. From A to Z she had all bases covered and Sunny came home with a plethora of how to's-- so happy that we found them and will definitely refer them to anyone looking for a top of the line, life-long companion.
