DuLac Collies

Melissa A.

Breeder of Collies

Meet the breeder

I'm Melissa A., the breeder behind DuLac Collies located in Kenmore, NY. DuLac is built upon love and respect for the breed. I breed versatile Collies and strive for excellent temperaments and health. Only our dogs that are health tested, titled, and have fantastic temperaments are bred. Our pedigree has excelled not only in the show ring and herding but in performance events and service dog/therapy dog work.

Q. & A. with Melissa

  • Why did you start breeding?

I understand the very important role that breeders undertake; that being today’s breeders are the guardians of the future of the Collie. I fell in love with the breed and wanted to do my part to better it and make sure the Collie was not forgotten.
  • What makes your program special?

I only breed dogs that have had their health testing completed. Our lineage can be traced all the way back to Sunnybank Collies, a renowned dog writer, Collie breeder, and owner. Collies from this pedigree have excelled at making their families' quality of life better. I will not always have puppies available. I breed for quality over quantity first.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
