I'm Amanda G., the breeder behind Ebonheart Kennel located in Algona, IA. Our puppies come from health tested and titled parents. They come with unlimited training classes, vaccinations UTD, dewormed, microchipped, toys, treats, food, invitations to our annual puppy reunion party, a month of Trupanion pet health insurance and more. Pet placement pups are $2200 with $400 given back to homes that show proof sterilization was done between 18-20 months. Guardian Home pups are $650 and are available to homes that commit to competing with their pup in sports and keeping them available for breeding later on.
Q. & A. with Amanda
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding after I got my very own Papillon in 2012. I had already known the breed didn’t have every trait I loved. So after a couple of years, we decided to pair my Papillon girl Jocianna to a small Miniature Australian Shepherd boy named Biscuit. We were thrilled with the puppies they produced and realized that others loved those pups just as much as we did.
What makes your program special?
We are the only ones raising a cross of these breeds and working towards a goal towards breed recognition for the traits we are working for. We also health test our dogs on hips, heart, elbow, eyes, patellas and DNA and our puppies are Embark dna tested before they are 8 weeks old. We keep our puppies for 12 weeks and, as a professional dog trainer, I personally train them in that time frame on leash obedience and potty training on turf pads.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies include small and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
