Q. & A. with Robette

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey into breeding began with my deep love and respect for the Doberman breed. I’ve always admired their intelligence, loyalty, protectiveness, and strong family bond. Once I experienced firsthand what it was like to have a well-bred Doberman, I knew this wasn’t just a pet — it was a life-changing companion.
  • What makes your program special?

Breeding is not just a business — it’s a responsibility. We are dedicated to producing Dobermans that are confident, loyal, intelligent, and true to the standard of the breed.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Robette

Robette has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Robette partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“At Elite Dobermans of Atlanta, our goal is not simply to place puppies — it is to create lifelong, successful matches between our Dobermans and their families. Because we spend the first 8+ weeks observing each puppy’s temperament, drive level, confidence, and personality, we reserve the right to assist in the final placement decision. This ensures that each puppy is matched appropriately based on: • Family lifestyle • Experience level with working breeds • Home environment • Presence of children or other pets • Desired temperament (companion, protection prospect, active family, etc.) While families may share preferences (male/female, color, personality traits), final selection order is based on reservation date and breeder evaluation. We believe in placing the right puppy with the right home — not simply allowing picks based solely on appearance. Proper matching sets the foundation for long-term success, stability, and satisfaction for both the puppy and the family. Our priority is producing confident, stable Dobermans and ensuring they thrive in the environments they enter. ”

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Working Aptitude (WAE), Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
