I'm Dawn N., the breeder behind Empress Labradors and Basset Hounds located in Roscoe, IL. We proudly breed healthy, happy Labradors. Many of our dogs have gone on to service work and all have become beloved companions. It is important to us that we preserve and protect this breed by breeding to the standard, thoroughly health testing, and individually caring for and loving each and every one of our dogs and pups.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Have the best mentors in the Labrador world taught me many do's and don'ts that I will cherish for a lifetime.
  • What makes your program special?

    We pride ourselves and best temperments, working ability, health tested dogs around. Our Empress name you will find in many pedigrees across the US and the world and know that it only comes from our kennel.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Dawn

Dawn has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $3,000 - $5,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“This includes AKC limited registration, lifetime microchip registration, update shot records, and detailed instructions for taking your puppy home successfully. Deposit is required to be on our waiting list... with first and second choices of what you want in color or sex. If that color and or sex is not born your deposits gets carried on to the next litter.”

Contract & health guarantee

Dawn may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), D Locus (Dilute) DNA test

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
