I'm Savannah S., the breeder behind Enchanted Newfoundlands located in Kelsey, MN. We are huge animal lovers and have a special place in our hearts for our dogs. We want to provide top-quality show, work, and pet companions. The Newfoundland is a working breed and should have the health, smarts, temperament, and drive to be versatile in whatever and wherever direction you choose to take them. We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We socialize each puppy and work on foundation skills that will help them in their future forever homes. This will include noise desensitization, exposure to other animals (ie. cats, other dogs, chickens, horses), basic obedience skills, potty training, crate training, etc. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!
Q. & A. with Savannah
Why did you start breeding?
So I have helped many breeders, in many different breeds, since I was a young girl. The gift of new life is a beautiful thing but there is a lot of heartbreak to go along with it. It is not for the faint of heart or to make a huge profit.
For my reasoning for getting into breeding is to produce well rounded healthy Newfoundlands that can be taken anywhere that they need to go. Health, temperament, instinct, and drive are huge qualities I want in my puppies. These are things that cannot be taught but bred into them from generations of quality pedigrees, testing, and research. I personally know so many that wanted a Newf and end up with personality or health issues and it is heartbreaking. So the reason I got into breeding was to be another quality breeder amongst my peers to help educate and promote quality over quantity.
What makes your program special?
I feel what makes our program special is that we are a small breeder that takes time and effort into our dogs and puppies. Our dogs live with us and are getting daily training and individual interaction. We take the time to train in many events like obedience, rally, conformation, water rescue, therapy work, draft, tracking, nosework, agility, hunting, and many more. We also show in conformation and other events. Our dogs love a job and purpose, even if it's like my female who LOVES to help with collecting all the animals food dishes and laundry or my male who loves going grouse hunting in the fall. Our dogs are family and are not just there for breeding purposes.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, brown, and gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
