I'm Monica T., the breeder behind Explosive located in Mitchell, SD. I am purposeful in everything that I do regarding my dogs, which includes careful selection of breeding parents and extensive health testing. My goal is to produce healthy dogs with great temperaments that are exemplary representations of the breed in agility and conformation.
Q. & A. with Monica
Why did you start breeding?
I used to raise champion AQHA and APHA paints. I moved to town and sold horses and began breeding Shetland Sheepdogs. These dogs are are an incredible breed, and I decided to start my breeding program in order to preserve the wonderful qualities I found in my dogs. I am dedicated to improving my lines with each generation so that the breed will continue to thrive for a long time to come.
What makes your program special?
I am breeding with 4-H and have several finished Champion dogs (horses, too)! When I bring a life into the world, I make sure it gets the best start possible. This includes proper health care and socialization for each puppy, but it starts even earlier than birth. I set my puppies up for success by carefully selecting the parents of each litter, keeping in mind factors such as health, temperament, ability, and athleticism.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
