Q. & A. with Amy

  • Why did you start breeding?

My name is Amy Dettore. I am happily married to the love of my life, "Joe"...the best husband/father in the world! We have six children, Joey, Judy, Katie, Alice, Gil and Benton. Alice and Gil both have special needs and despite the curve balls and daily challenges thrown our way over the years, Joe and I do our best to live life to the fullest and not really take anything for granted. Alice was born in 2007 with a very rare chromosomal abnormality and she has required full care since a very young age and Gil has Down syndrome. Needless to say, we are quite busy. I work full time as a Realtor and while I love what I do, my passion is my dogs. I have been an animal lover my whole life and would be content to just talk "dogs" all day long. LOL. I love all aspects of raising dogs, from selecting stud dogs, having a litter of puppies, training and showing. I have dabbled a bit in obedience, rally and agility in addition to conformation but with my jammed packed schedule, it's really hard for me to fit everything in. Eventually I can see myself enjoying and competing in events other than conformation and I look forward to the future! Both Aussies and Cavaliers are wonderful breeds; intelligent, athletic, and all-around family dogs that there really isn't much they can't do! If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!
  • What makes your program special?

It took me years to decide on a name for my Kennel. I wanted a somewhat simple, yet meaningful name..... with significance. And then one day it just came to me. My middle name is Fair (Amy Fair Brill is my maiden name), Fair was a family name. My Great, Great, Grandfather's name was Thomas Wilde and he married Mary Fair. The Fair's were known around town to be feisty and not afraid of anything. Mary had 3 brothers and supposedly if you were walking down the street and the Fair boys were walking toward you, then you crossed the street! I thought my Fair namesake represented a characteristic of an Aussie. The Wilde's were aristocratic. They were always well groomed and pleasant, yet somewhat reserved. My mother's maiden name is Wilde and I thought it was a nice way to carry on her namesake as she did not have any brothers.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies include blenheim, ruby, black and tan, and tri-color. Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
