I'm Monica S., the breeder behind Faraway Farm Dachshunds located in Callahan, FL. At Faraway Farm Dachshunds, we have been building our reputation as a trusted Dachshund Breeder in Callahan Florida since we bred our first Doxie back in 2018. We take our responsibilities very seriously and strive to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all our dogs and puppies. That’s why the happiest days for us are when one of our puppies is adopted by a loving and welcoming family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I was new to breeding 3 years ago but my sister, Lisa Sommes, was experienced in birthing babies due to her experience breeding Collies. We love Dachshunds so it was a natural progression to eventually start breeding these adorable dogs.

  • What makes your program special?

    I think our breeding program is special because we are retired, live next door to each other, and work together to take care of the dogs. We are always there together when the birth occurs and we provide lots of training activities for the puppies. Because of all of this, I believe our puppies have extra wonderful personalities!

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include wirehaired, smooth, and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, piebald, cream, red, chocolate and cream, and black and cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Monica

Monica has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Monica partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $950 - $1,300 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes wormings, the first round of vaccinations, State of Florida Health Guarantee, puppy training, generous goody bag to go home. The deposit ensures intent to purchase the chosen puppy. When a buyer places a deposit they will get videos and pictures throughout the week, every week, until the puppy goes home.”

Monica may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
