Debra U.

Breeder of Labrador Retrievers

Meet the breeder

I'm Debra U., the breeder behind Firelight Retrievers located in Streetsboro, OH. My program is geared towards the sporting and working gun dogs while still being a loving loyal companion in the home.

Q. & A. with Debra

  • Why did you start breeding?

Being an avid duck hunter with my dad when I was little, and then moving as I attended college, I started looking for the right breed of dog and decided the Labrador was the right choice for me. I've been involved with the Labrador breed for over 20 years and researched history, genetic, and just I started my breeding program Jan 2017.
  • What makes your program special?

I take time in choosing balanced traits, recognize faults and how to correct them. Monitor COI, research pedigrees, & ensure health. Our dogs live in our home, whelp and raise puppies in our home & handle pups daily. Pups are introduced to sights & sound, car rides, and one on one time with each individual puppy.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
