I'm Jenny W., the breeder behind Free Range Shih Tzus located in Hematite, MO. We’re hobby breeders looking for individuals and families that will continue to love and spoil our puppies as much as we do! The foundation of our breeding program starts with raising healthy and well-loved dogs. We aim to pass the same happiness of owning a quality-bred dog to our buyers.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Have 20 years experience with Shih Tzus, and have always wanted to breed - just waiting until the right place and time. :)

  • What makes your program special?

    We are focused on more of the darker coloring in Shih Tzu (just a personal preference). Overnight crate traininng and outdoor potty traininng begin about 5 weeks old as the mama starts to ween - so they get off to a very good start on their house manners before going to their new homes. :)

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Jenny

Jenny has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“All puppies are hand raised in home, and pre-trained for crate at bedtime and going outside to potty starting at 5 weeks, as the mama begins the weening process. We are AKC registered and offer a ‘pick your price’ style contract depending on what level of AKC registration is desired, if any. All puppies are vet checked, have first shots, dewormed on schedule, and come with a heath guarantee. Puppy price varies according to what registration is preferred. This is completely spelled out on the contract and buyers chose their own price accordingly. All puppies come with a health guarantee regardless of registration preference.”

    Jenny is such a professional breeder. It was a wonderful experience working with her. I live close, so I was able to visit every week. Leo is such a perfect little guy.     Jenny was so wonderful and kept me updated during this process. I could tell she cares not only for her pets but also for each puppy. Jenny wanted to make sure she found the right home for her puppies, and we are enjoying the new addition to our family.     My experience with Jenny and Free Range Shih Tzus was fantastic. I would highly recommend Jenny to family and friends. She takes such good care of each puppy she raises. I could clearly tell the love she put into taking care of my little Millie until she was ready to be adopted. Millie was so smart even at 8 weeks old when I received her. Jenny started her with potty training and a sleep pattern that laid a foundation to learn many more things in just the two and a half weeks I have had her. Jenny wants to keep in touch to see how each puppy and owner is doing. I love my little Millie and I am so thankful to have met Jenny.

    I cannot say enough good things about Jenny and my precious Henry Clay. She was so responsive with weekly photos and videos and Henry Clay came to me knowing his full name; trained to the doggy door; and so well-behaved. He is fearless… even to thunderstorms and fireworks. He is by far the best bred, sweetest, smartest, kindest dog I’ve ever had; and he had some massive Shih Tzu paws to fill to earn that title. Jenny took the tragedy of the loss of my therapy dog to the blessing of the sweetest little friend and companion anyone could ask for. From responsiveness to quality of breeding to temperament and training Jenny has it all to the highest degree. Best of all I feel like I made a friend in the process. I would recommend Jenny and her fabulous pups to anyone.
