Meet the breeder

I'm Kendall, the breeder behind Gem State Mini Dachshunds located in Idaho. Currently, we have two active breeding dogs - Remmy, a male Black & Tan Dapple and Peach, an ee Cream Brindle female. Both Remmy & Peach are AKC registered, Embark tested and OFA/CHIC for CAER Eyes, Patellar Luxation and Basic Cardiac. We prioritize health and temperament over color in our puppies.

Q. & A. with Kendall

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got in to breeding due to my love for dogs. I had always dreamt of becoming a veterinarian and the science behind animal genetics is truly what got me so interested in breeding. I spent years researching the dachshund breed and doing all I could to understand their genetics and best practices for breeding before I ever even sought out my first pup.
  • What makes your program special?

We prioritize health and temperament over all else. Our dogs undergo extensive health testing, above and beyond that of the standard “genetic testing.” We back our dogs 100% and will always take a puppy back, at any point in its life. When selecting dogs to add to our program, they are simply “prospects” until after 2 years of age when all health testing, maturity and temperament can be evaluated
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, chocolate, brindle, chocolate and cream, chocolate and tan, black and cream, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
