I'm Earl M., the breeder behind Gemms Affenpinschers, Barbets and Tibetan Terriers located in Sioux City, IA. We are a home-based breeder creating your next family member while we search for that Best In Show dog. We have been breeding for over 30 years producing top winning dogs including Best in Show winning dogs.
Q. & A. with Earl
Why did you start breeding?
We had been raising Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers since 1988 and fell in love with the Tibetan Terriers in the late 1990's. We adopted our first Tibetan Terrier Sophie into our home in the fall of 2000. We waited to show her and she finished her Championship in the fall of 2003. One of our favorite wins was a Best of Breed win over several champions by what were considered top breeders back then.
What makes your program special?
GEMMS Kennels is kind of a non-truth. We are not really a kennel at all. Our pets are in the house with us and never go in a kennel. Because we don’t have a barn full of dogs, and don’t believe dogs should be raised in that manner, some of our dogs live with family and family friends. Being loved and being pets are their first priorities. All of our dogs have been shown in AKC and we strive to produce the next Best In Show winning dog! However, we never sacrifice health and personality for the show ring.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Affenpinscher puppies include black and silver, black and tan, and black. Tibetan Terrier puppies include white and black, sable and white, sable, gray and white, gray, black and white brindle, black and white, black and brown, black and brindle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
