Meet the breeder

I'm Kerry B., the breeder behind Glenara Collies & Papillons located in Blossvale, NY. For over 50 years I have been involved in breeding, showing, training, and raising dogs. My experience can be found within the breeds of Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties), Australian Shepherds (Aussies), Papillons, and Golden Retrievers. I find extreme satisfaction in training and socializing them. Watching the change and natural habits evolve within the breeds is such a joy to watch appear.

Q. & A. with Kerry

  • Why did you start breeding?

I enter into the breeding world when I was a young girl as my parents were breeders, conformation competitors, and now Judges. I started with entering into the JR. Handlers program/show ring and then very quickly graduated into showing my own Collie in with the point Conformation ring. During this time I too would help in the whelping, raising, socializing, and training of the puppies and adult dogs. This was where I learned and grew to love what I enjoy the most. That is, the training and socializing of the puppies and dogs. As an adult I then continued to raise dogs on my own.
  • What makes your program special?

The Glenara breeding program is expectational in that I give extra care and training to the puppies while they are in my care. I begin their house breaking, leash, no biting/toy instead, recall, and grooming care training. Depending on the age I will even begin minor obedience training. They are socialized to numerous noises, people of all different ages, ethics, heights, sizes, and sexes. They leave my home not afraid of anyone or anything. My dogs and the puppies are raise in my home. Never in a kennel, barn, garage, or cellar. They live right here with me in the main living area of my home. As such they are ready to live in yours too.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our Collie puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Collie puppies are blue merle. Papillon puppies include white and sable, brown and white, and black brown and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Kerry was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was extremely responsive to our questions, informative about grooming techniques, and kept us up to date on everything before picking up our new pup, Evie. Evie is adorable, smart, rambunctious and so sweet! We're happy to have her in our family.
