Meet the breeder

I'm Jo K., the breeder behind Golden Roots Retrievers located in Meridian, ID. We raise AKC registered and fully health tested Golden Retrievers with exceptional family-friendly temperaments in the heart of the Treasure Valley! Our dogs are health tested to CHIC, responsibly bred, and raised with Puppy Culture, ENS and ESI. Our dogs live in our home- not kennels!

Q. & A. with Jo

  • Why did you start breeding?

My childhood Golden retriever taught me unconditional love and joy. Sharing that experience again while raising my son with a Golden retriever showed me how these dogs shape family life. That inspired me to dedicate myself to raising healthy, loving Goldens for others to enjoy. My daughter in law and son are a big help with puppies and ensure that my grandchildren get to grow up around goldens too.
  • What makes your program special?

I believe in quality over quantity! We will only be having a small number of litters a year from only a couple breeding girls at a time. Our dogs are members of our family first and foremost! All of our dogs are AKC registered, health tested to CHIC standards before they are bred and are matched to homes based on their specific temperament and traits! We are in the process of building our program!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
