I'm Claire M., the breeder behind Goodwood Standard European Hunting Dachshunds located in Portland, OR. I have been breeding since 2003. First show dachshunds, now performance. I import dogs from Eastern, central and western Europe from active hunters and trackers. These are not couch potatoes. They need a LOT of exercise.
Looking for young, active, outdoorsy people for this litter.
Prior dachshund ownership a must.
A fence yard in a home is a must.
Someone home during most of the day is a must.
These are not a dog for a first time dachsund owner. Thank you for your understanding.
Q. & A. with Claire
Why did you start breeding?
I love matchmaking with dogs to create a better and better dog. I love puppies and I love to see my puppies out in competition. I also love all my puppy people!
What makes your program special?
20 years ago I was one of only two breeders of standard smooth FCI conformed dogs in the US.
Now, I have finally convinced 3 other people to start breeding. It has been a joy to introduce the European "teckel" Dachshund to the US.
I owe an enormous debt to the breeders upon whose work I build.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include chocolate and tan and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Claire
Claire has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price
Puppy prices include a $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“$2500 for any of my puppies.
This includes the 8 weeks of socialization I put into them, their 1st vet visit, and 1st series of vaccines.
I also provide a 200 crate for all puppy owners who want one. I am a firm believer in crate training and I want you to be too!
Dogs come with a puppy slip lead and a toy.
All my puppies are AKC registered, and microchipped.
I DO NOT require neutering as the latest research shows that dogs need their hormones in order to become fully adult.
I have a Ring camera on the puppy pen for 24 hours puppy watching! Once you commit to a puppy, I ask for a $100 deposit. This is only refundable if the sex you want is not born, or if no puppies are viable.
Once the puppies are 3 weeks old, I ask for a nonrefundable $500 deposit.
When you come get the puppy the balance is due.
Mostly deposits are to separate the wheat from the chaff and make sure I only spend my time on serious applicants.”
