Q. & A. with Jo
Why did you start breeding?
Pure accident at first. Jumped in with 2 feet and have studied to be sure we are producing the best combination of pups with the best temperaments
What makes your program special?
We go above and beyond on every level. It starts with the staff of people who work with the pups. Pups are never left alone and kept in the cleanest space possible making potty training very easy. We socialize them with people, sounds, textures, experiences, animals, fireworks, yard tools, vacuum...literally everything we can think of. We begin crate training. I consider them my grandkids!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Rosie
Rosie is a sweetheart. I have four golden retrievers and she is the best behaved. I swear she speaks English because of the level of things she understands. She has many Dock Diving titles. She also has her CGC and her intermediate trick dog title. Her love is frisbee. She can go from playing frisbee to come inside and cuddling on the couch.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
GWPups reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Golden Retrievers.

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
