Meet the breeder

I'm Annette H., the breeder behind Hamm Weenies AKC (Dachshunds) located in Oklahoma City, OK. Having a dog in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! Our mission is to breed the very best dogs that we can, to raise them with love, and to select their future homes with careful attention.

Q. & A. with Annette

  • Why did you start breeding?

The Dachshund breed is remarkable and fascinating. These dogs possess an extraordinary set of characteristics that make them stand out from other canine breeds. One of their most defining traits is their independent nature. Dachshunds are intelligent and often have their own opinions, which they are not afraid to express. They are fiercely loyal to their families and will protect them at all costs, but they also enjoy their alone time. Despite their independent nature, Dachshunds are incredibly affectionate and love nothing more than being doted on by their loved ones. They are known for being excellent lap dogs and will often snuggle up with their human companions for hours on end. They are also quite playful and love to have fun, especially when it comes to chasing toys or playing fetch. In addition to their unique personalities, Dachshunds also have a distinct physical appearance. They are small and long-bodied, which makes them perfect for burrowing and digging. Their short legs can make them appear comical at times, but they are surprisingly fast and agile. Their long ears and expressive eyes only add to their charm and make them even more endearing. Overall, Dachshunds are a breed that is sure to impress and amaze anyone who meets them. They are a delightful combination of independence and affection, and their unique personalities and physical characteristics make them a joy to be around.
  • What makes your program special?

"I want to share the love and companionship that I receive from my Dachshunds with others who want one. I make sure to spend time with my dogs every day, playing with them, rubbing their bellies, and holding them like babies. Additionally, they interact with their parents and are well-adjusted, which ensures that they have all the experiences they need for a good start in life. When I am away, I ensure that they have interactive toys to play with, as a bored Dachshund can be dangerous. I breed my dogs with all the love I can give them until they go to their forever homes. I will miss them dearly, and it is always a bit sad when they leave, as the house feels a little less whole without them."
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include longhaired and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Annette was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable of the dogs she has. Belle is our second dog from Annette and she is the best she's hyper but soooooo loving we love her very much and are so grateful to Annette for this wonderful ball of fluff and love.

It was a pleasure working with Annette. From finding my puppy to completing the purchase and picking Sadie up, the process was incredibly easy. Annette kept me updated during the process and sent me videos of Sadie. The go home bag had everything I needed to get started with my puppy. The overall experience was very positive. Thank you, Annette, for raising loving, sociable pups ready for their forever homes.

Annette was so personable and amazing to work with! She sent us regular updates on our puppy and was willing to meet us halfway for pick-up. She went above and beyond our expectations. We are so happy we found her and our new best friend!

Annette was very helpful and responsive throughout the whole process and made everything feel comfortable and easy. She took the time to make sure my puppy was going to a good home, which showed how much she truly cares about the dogs she raises. Annette was also kind enough to meet us more than halfway, which made things much easier for us and showed how accommodating she is. Overall she was very nice to work with, and you can tell she genuinely cares about both the puppies and the families they go to. I would definitely recommend going through her!

Annette shared so many pictures, video chats, and videos of Frankie from the time of interest until the day we got him. You could tell he was loved like one of her own. Frankie has adjusted well thanks to all the supplies Annette provided. I only wished I would have gotten two!

Annette was wonderful from day one. I had a 10.5 hour drive to pick up my new baby. We had a medical emergency on the way and had to detour to an ER. After working a full day, Annette offered to drive my puppy 4.5 hours to our location. She went above and beyond what I ever expected. I can’t say enough positive things about her and my experience. My puppy came with everything stated and was well loved prior to me getting her. I would definitely recommend Hamm Weenies if you are searching for a mini daschund.
