Meet the breeder

I'm Lisa D., the breeder behind Hawks Acres Shelties located in Waynesville, GA. My breeding dogs come from CH and GRCH AKC lines. My dogs are part of my family, first and foremost. I have 4 /5 sleeping in bed with me. I do genetic health tests (MDR1, CEA, DM, VWD3, PRA, DMS), and I offer a 3 year genetic health guarantee for these diseases. I breed for quality, not quantity.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I bought my first puppy in 1989, and I started to participate in shows. I then fell so deeply in love with Shetland Sheepdogs that they inspired me to start my breeding program. I have not looked back since, and I'm excited to have the privilege to share this wonderful breed with families.

  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs are excellent examples of the breed, come from CH and GRCH AKC lines. I dedicate my life to my dogs. My puppies get my full attention each day, sleeping next to them for the first 2 wks, and doing ENS every day. I do frequent updates through videos and photos so you can see them grow and interact with each other. I offer life-time support, and if you can no longer care for your dog, I will gladly give them a home, no matter what age. I love what I do, and I'm looking forward to speaking with you about taking home one of my beautiful puppies.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable merle and white, sable and white, blue merle white and tan, black white and tan, and blue merle and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Lisa

Lisa has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Lisa partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Once buyer has completed our contract, you will need to send it and deposit back to me. Pick number is determined by video call and first deposit received. I can not guarantee there'll always be a puppy in your preferred color.”

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1), PRA, Shetland Sheepdog Type, von Willebrand Disease III (vWD III), Shetland Sheepdog Type, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
