Sparrow has her second set of vaccines behind her. I received TDR registration numbers this week, and am waiting for proofs of the registration papers to come via email. Each puppy was also registered with the American Rare Breed Association and I am waiting for those certificates as well. All will be forwarded to you at the same time. I’ll be sure to give a heads up in an email.

Well the forecast here for the rest of the week is rain. We can’t keep them in the house that long, so I guess the motto is: “dirty dogs have more fun!” And it’s baths all around tonight. :D

Pups are using the litter area more and more. However they still make a big mess every day! Lol ( see clean puppy pen photo. This lasts until they wake up from their nap.) Robyn visits as much as she wants and will nurse them as long as she wishes.

Pups first time playing in the kitchen! We took portraits today, too. Expect to see those posted tomorrow. Pups will also have their second round of dewormer (Nemex).

Pups graduated from the whelping box into the puppy pen this morning! They were more than ready as they have really enjoyed exploring (and escaping) the whelping box over the past few days.

Another big day for pups yesterday! We trimmed their nails again, took photos, added a novel item to the whelping box (a toy!), did SuperDog, and administered Nemex—a dewormer for the pups and Robyn.

About Ruuq - RETIRED
One of our lead dogs in harness, Ruuq is named after her father: Arrow. Ruuq is "Arrow" in Inuit. She is a sweet girl, but a little bossy with the other dogs. We think it might be because she's the smallest. Ha! Ruuq enjoys working in harness either pulling a sled or dryland cart. She also loves snuggling on the couch. She's earned her BCAT, just like her big sister: Raven! BCAT is a title in FastCat. Ruuq loves to run and is very fast.

She was laid back and happy in the show ring. A number of judges commented on how nice her temperament is compared to others they've seen. Please check out her health testing results: hips, elbows, eyes, DNA and heart. Current eye certification as of May 2025 is also available.

About Raven - RETIRED
Raven is a sweet girl with a loud bark. She's our "alarm dog" who barks at the neighbor when he is out, barks at the deer when she sees them, or has a conversation with our resident red fox: barking back and forth. She has been attached to our daughter since the day she was born. Raven is a willing worker in harness and is incredibly strong. We currently have. her in wheel position.

Before working with Tracy and Ben of Hawthorne Tamaskan, I had never worked with a dog breeder before. But I've been forever spoiled by the amazing experience I had with them! I found Hawthorne Tamaskan after researching online and discovering Tracy and Ben's extensive experience with the breed on a national level. Tamaskans aren't for everyone; like most northern breeds, few can handle the high-energy, independent, exceedingly intelligent, high-prey drive, pack-oriented nature of Tamaskans. I knew that going in (and had a lot of previous experience with northern breeds), so actually appreciated the rigorous application for consideration. First and foremost, Tracy and Ben want to ensure successful placement of their puppies. Once our family was accepted, I was absolutely floored by the amount of devotion, attention, and love Tracy and Ben give to their dogs, puppies, AND prospective families. Tracy sent incredible emails with an abundance of information and pictures almost every week, which I've subsequently learned is unheard of from most breeders. She gave detailed descriptions of the Puppy Culture methodology she and Ben used as well as in-depth information on crate training, toys, treats, exercise, and vet care. Tracy and I even talked through the timing of when to bring kittens into our home so that our puppy (Kato!) would understand the kittens were part of the pack (and not to be eaten). We were encouraged to visit the puppies after a few weeks, which was a delightful experience and gave us a full understanding of the way in which Tracy and Ben cater to their pups. And when the time came to select a puppy, Tracy called me to talk through (at length!) which pup would be best-suited for our family. We've had Kato for almost two and a half years, and Tracy and Ben still make an effort to remain connected. They're open to questions and Hawthorne families are invited to participate in a private Facebook group to share experiences, queries, and of course, pictures! I truly cannot speak highly enough of Tracy, Ben, and Hawthorne Tamaskan as devoted experts and breeders who are deeply invested in the health and well-being of their dogs and puppies!
