I'm Megan R., the breeder behind Heart of Doxie located in Arkansas. Our breeding dogs are selected first by personality and by desirable markings and colors. Each of our breeding dogs are first and foremost our pets who are loved and adored in our home.
All puppies come pre-spoiled by my kids and me.
Q. & A. with Megan
Why did you start breeding?
I didn't think I wanted to be a breeder, until I bought my 3rd dachshund, Tripp. He is a beautiful black and tan piebald. I thought he would make beautiful babies with an English cream. So, I waited another 2.5 years before I found the perfect female, Elle. Elle turned 2 last year, but we were moving across the country, so we decided to wait to breed them. This is our first litter.
What makes your program special?
I truly enjoy raising puppies. With this first litter, I have discovered that it is my passion. I know how much joy the perfect dog can bring, so I like to think I'm raising up perfect pets for families. I make sure the babies are handled frequently, I lay them on their backs so they can start getting used to tummy rubs, and around 3.5/4 weeks I start working on training them to potty outside.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald and cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
