I'm Jamiell G., the breeder behind Heartstead Haven Australian Shepherds located in Silver City, NM. Dam and Sire are both clear on all genetic panel testing. Both are AKC Registered. Sire is also a Certified Therapy Dog. Would make great companions. Aussies get along well with other animals.
Q. & A. with Jamiell
Why did you start breeding?
We took our Dam for Herding Aptitude testing and met her Sire there. We knew because of their temperaments and working abilities, they would be a great match for other families l, those in need of Therapy Dogs and ESAs and with families. Aussies need plenty of stimulation and space to run around and or daily exercise to be happy! They are a loving, adaptable, intelligent breed.
What makes your program special?
We have over a decade in experience with working dogs. Each pup is handled daily and starts receiving enrichment opportunities from an early age. Our pups are raised with our 3 children. Our pups get to meet cats, dogs, and other farm animals, various people and daily handling to make sure they are ready for your home!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include red & white, black & white, red merle, and black tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

I had a wonderful experience with Jamiell from Heartstead Haven Australian Shepherds! From the very beginning, she was professional, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about the breed. One of the things I appreciated most was how quickly she responded to all my questions—she was always available and made the entire process so easy and stress-free.
I brought home two beautiful Australian Shepherds, Canelo and Kahlúa, and they have been nothing short of amazing. They are healthy, well-socialized, and full of energy. It’s clear that they were raised with love and care.
If you’re looking for a reputable breeder who truly prioritizes the well-being of their dogs and provides excellent communication throughout the process, I highly recommend Heartstead Haven Australian Shepherds. I couldn’t be happier with my experience!

I am so thankful I came across Jamiell and her sweet puppies. She was really responsive and knowledgeable, and the whole adoption process was as smooth as can be. Responsible breeding is really important to us, and I love that Penny, the mom, is their family dog and has a great life on their farm. I also greatly appreciated Jamiell's flexibility. We live six hours away and she was more than willing to meet us halfway for a small fee. Her prices were also extremely affordable compared to other breeders we have seen. You can tell they are in it for the love of the breed.
Our new pup has the sweetest temperament and is so smart, and we can already tell she is going to be a wonderful addition to our family. She was clearly exposed to lots of other people and animals during her first two months of life. She met our cats without any issues! Thank you Jamiell for uniting us with our new forever friend.

I had just lost my Papillon to illness when I discovered Jamiell’s listing. She was so sympathetic and suggested I come over for some puppy therapy to heal my soul. I took her up on it as they were only twenty minutes away! It was fun…pups were adorable and Jamiell and her sweet daughter are lovely. Not to mention Penny, the fantastic mom of the litter who welcomed me with open arms. There was only one puppy that was not already reserved and it was a sweet female. I was ideally looking for a male red merle. I played with the red merle pup that was there (already purchased) and connected to him right away. I told Jamielle that if he had been available, I would have taken him in a heartbeat. Cut to the next morning…Jamiell reached out to tell me that the sale had fallen through
because of an emergency situation and that the pup could actually be mine!! Wasn’t expecting or ready for that, but it surely felt preordained! So here I am with this beautiful, smart, affectionate boy whose name is not quite confirmed (Rumi or Riley??) Thanks to Jamiell!
It was a wonderful experience all around. Jamiell is caring, honest, communicative, and knowledgeable. She made the process so easy. The pups were all healthy and well cared for. I highly recommend Heartstead Haven if you have a future opportunity to secure a pup.
FYI my older Aussie, Izzy, has taken in the puppy as if she’s the mom. It’s a delight to watch. They are having so much fun together…I’m sure they will be great friends.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
