Meet the breeder

I'm Beth S., the breeder behind Henotic Homestead's Shetland Sheepdogs located in Lebanon, TN. Our dogs all live inside of our home and are treated as our loving pets. They are as much a part of our family as their puppies will be of yours. Their puppies are raised in our home around our 3 children, other dogs, and cats. We breed for health and temperament, with a focus on Emotional Support.

Q. & A. with Beth

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always been the person that people have called when their dog or cat went into labor. I ran my own rescue in 2006 bottle feeding orphaned kittens. We started out hobby breeding our Great Pyrenees in 2014 and later our Cairn Terrier. It wasn't until we discovered Shetland Sheepdogs that we decided we wanted to breed full time. We haven't looked back since. This is our breed!
  • What makes your program special?

ESA & SD prospects are rare in shelties, but not for our puppies. Most become amazing companions, many offer emotional support & several become service dogs. The health and happiness of our puppies is extremely important. We offer lifetime support of your new puppy. We are there for you for any questions you may have, any time. We will take back the dog as a surrender, no matter the age or reason.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and white, sable merle and white, blue merle and white, blue merle white and tan, black white and tan, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Beth was a great helping us find our newest family member! She gave us lots of photos and updates as we waited to bring our girl home. Our Piper (formerly Phoebe) is happy, healthy, and a great addition to our family!

Beth was incredibly caring and responsive when we inquired about adopting our puppy. She sent us updates and kept us informed about his progress which was much appreciated. It was really important to us to get a Sheltie that would have a good temperament to become a therapy dog. After reading about how much effort Beth puts into raising puppies and getting them used to being around different people and environments, we knew this was right choice for us. “Thor” has already been such a blessing to our family, we are so excited to continue watching him grow. Thank you for taking such good care of him!

Working with Beth was great, she was very responsive to my every little question. She would send videos and pictures when I asked. She was extremely accommodating when I had to change our pick up days. She gave me a whole folder of information for our puppy Rocko. This is the best interaction I have had with a breeder. She is still answering questions to this day. When it’s time for our next puppy I will not get the puppy anywhere else!!

Beth was so easy to work with and very helpful. I contacted her about one of her letters and explained what I was looking for as far as color and tempermant. She siggested I wait for the next littler based on the parents of that littler and the temperment they usually produce. We got a beutiful female Bi Blue Merle with a perfect personality for our family! Beth sent us a lot of pictures and updates before we could meet her. She was always so responsive when I sent her messages with questions and what not. She will be the first person I contact when I am ready for another beautiful Sheltie! I couldn't be more happy with our experience and couldn't be more in love with my Junie!

Beth was tremendous to work with to find our pup. She was responsive and cares deeply about her dogs. We always felt she had the puppies and our best interest at heart. Jasper has been an excellent addition to our family and we couldn’t be happier with the process. I highly suggest Henotic Homestead for your next puppy.

I cannot be happier with my experience working with Beth and her family! I grew up with a sheltie and always knew that I would want one for my kids. However, I was worried about the chaos of adding a puppy when I already had two kids and two elderly dogs. Beth made the process incredibly easy. We reserved Kayda when she was only a few days old, and we got regular updates. Beth also answered every single one of my questions. Now that we have Kayda home, I am shocked by how FUN and EASY everything has been. Not only do I have this beautiful and healthy sheltie, she is the sweetest and most well-socialized puppy I have ever met. Nothing fazes her; doorbells ringing, dogs barking, feet stomping, toddlers screaming…she’s just happy to be included. Even when my four-year-old decided to treat her to a surprise concert on his melodica. You can tell that Beth and her family put a lot of hard work into making a loving family companion! We are so glad to have our sweet Kayda!
