Meet the breeder

I'm Nicole S., the breeder behind Heritage Valley Collies located in Durango, IA. We breed genetically tested AKC Collies with a focus on temperament and improving the breed. We take extensive steps to make sure parents and puppies are healthy, and we socialize our puppies so they will have good transitions to their forever homes. We love our dogs and love seeing them thrive.

Q. & A. with Nicole

  • Why did you start breeding?

I've wanted to breed dogs since I was a kid. When it was time to make my dream come true, I wanted to make sure I wasn't just breeding for coat colors, but also temperament and genetic testing. That's a goal that has been a focus throughout this journey so that I can feel confident that I am producing puppies that can live healthy, happy lives.
  • What makes your program special?

Our Collies are genetically tested for CEA, PRA, DM, and MDR1. Our puppies are raised in our home as part of our family before they join your family. We work hard to match each puppy to the best family fit. Each pup is cherished from the moment of birth and given the best start we can possibly provide.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and white, sable merle, black white and tan, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
