Meet the breeder

I'm Jane H., the breeder behind Herron's Sandhills Scotties located in Raeford, NC. My Scotties enjoy outside play in two fenced in yards. They are never outside in extreme heat, cold, or rain. From the time the puppies are born until the time they leave me, I bestow them with kisses. They love to kiss me back. I consider my Scotties as family. I do not rehome my retired Scotties. I have had them to live until fourteen and fifteen years of age. I have been breeding Scotties for thirty-five years. I adore the breed.

Q. & A. with Jane

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started breeding with the adoption of my first two Scotties. I wanted to share the breed with others because I found them to be such wonderful dogs. One of my puppies from a litter went to a NC U.S. senator and one to a man who lost his wife in the 911 tragedy. I love meeting people who share the same love for the Scottish Terrier.
  • What makes your program special?

Not only can I show puppy parents the sire and dam, but I can also, in some cases, show the grandparents. My puppies are raised with lots of love and socialization.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include wheaten, red brindle, silver brindle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
