Meet the breeder

I'm Jamie B., the breeder behind Hickory Pines farm located in Chesapeake, VA. We live on a small acre farm where we expose all dogs to various livestock, socialization, and training as we can while they are still young. This breed is our passion therefore picking the best homes for our puppies is of the upmost importance before anything else.

Q. & A. with Jamie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I actually fell in love with this breed thanks to my husband. When we first started dating he already had an Australian Shepherd "Gunner". I had always loved the way they looked but had never owned one. I soon fell deeply in love with the breed and research began. We ended up with our second Aussie within a year and the rest is history. We had our first litter of Aussies in 2021.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs aren't just our "breeding program" they are our family and all dogs and litters are raised in our home and with us from day one. Socialization and enrichment are something we feel very strongly about introducing from the beginning. This is a working breed and we take a lot of time educating our owners and potential owners to help equity them at home.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red merle, blue merle, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Kodah is my BEST friend! Hickory Pines & Jamie made the adoption process SO smooth. In his early weeks, Jamie kept me updated on the pup and allowed me to come meet and play with him any time! When it was time to bring him home, Jamie made sure we had all of his documents organized in a binder and a very thoughtful basket with puppy essentials, food, treats and toys. All of her adult dogs and puppies were very healthy, happy and well cared for. When we are ready for another Aussie, we will definitely contact Hickory Pines farm again.
