I'm Lisa, the breeder behind Higher Ground Labradors located in Eaton Rapids, MI. I breed homegrown and loved Labrador Retrievers. I breed English Labradors that have great temperaments, are healthy as well as beautiful, and will make the best dog for whatever your needs are.... from our family to yours.

Why did you start breeding?
I grew up on a farm and have had animals in my life from a very young age. The Labrador is one of the smartest, ready to please, gracious and most beautiful dogs on earth. The Labrador is the best all around dog for families and for being able to do anything you're interested in. After having Labs in my life, I knew they were the best choice for my breeding program.What makes your program special?
I am a responsible, ethical breeder and work hard to make great dogs out of the puppies we raise. Our puppies are well socialized and come vet checked, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and de-wormings. They also come with a lifetime guarantee against certain diseases known to Labradors and a 28 month guarantee against hip and elbow dysplasia. I raise for health, temperament and beauty.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Lisa has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
After buyers complete the application and screening process, Lisa partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“Prices vary depending on the pedigrees and depending on the training that the puppy has had. A $500.00 non-refundable reservation fee is required to hold your puppy for you. This is applied to the purchase price of your puppy and is transferable to another litter.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

I had the most incredible experience working with Lisa, and I cannot recommend her enough. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond—sending me frequent photo and video updates of my puppy, keeping me involved in every step before he came home. She provided endless information and guidance on everything from food and sleep to training, which made me feel fully prepared. Lisa is truly the most ethical breeder I’ve ever contacted. She shared all genetic testing for both parents upfront and was completely transparent throughout the entire process. She even began crate training my puppy before I received him, which has helped tremendously. Even after bringing Bowen home, she has continued to be available for every question I’ve had. My husband and I are thrilled with the puppy we purchased from Lisa at High Ground Labradors. Our Magnum (previously known at Daniel from Rosa and Strider’s litter “Seven Brothers and one Sister”) is a high quality AKC registered black Labrador. We receive compliments all the time from people who know labs. They say: “he’s a gorgeous/beautiful pup”, “you’ve got a good one”, “he’s soooooooo sweet”, “beautiful coat”, and many more praises. We always give credit to Lisa and her team of family helpers who love on and work with these puppies daily. The pups are raised in a family environment and are trained right away. When we met Magnum and his brother at 11 weeks, the pups did not jump up, knew “sit”, “wait”, “go potty”, “eat”, how to walk on lead, partially potty trained, and crate trained. Having already learned these commands and skills are priceless benefits when bringing home a new puppy! Lisa is beyond thorough with DNA and health testing information for your specific puppy, microchipping, AKC registration information (for yellow and black), AKC bloodline charts, raising puppy information, business contract, vet checks and health records, and more. She’s detailed oriented and walked us through everything. And Lisa has been available to us through every part of our journey with Magnum. She works faithfully to assure the pups she’s brought into this world thrive in the new families in which they will live. Her love, care, dedication, and great business practices extend beyond the day the pup goes home. Lisa was wonderful to work with! She was responsive with any questions we had and provided update pictures/videos as we waited for pickup day. When we arrived for our meet and greet, we got to meet the adults as well as the puppies at her home. You can tell all of the dogs in her care are happy and thriving. She does such a great job preparing the puppies for the transition into their new homes.
