I'm Doug and Elizabeth D., the breeder behind Highlander Whippets located in Port Richey, FL. We raise everyone in our home where they get plenty of attention, socialization and started on house training. We use artificial grass pee pads right away to start the process. We also crate train our dogs. The puppies will have their immunizations, microchip, and a Certificate of Health from a Veterinarian. We will also provide toy(s), blanket that have the scent of the litter on them to help them adjust to their new home. You will also receive a lead, a few days' worth of food, training information, and information on spaying and neutering. We suggest waiting until they are adults before having it done. Having it done at an earlier age can lead to future health issues.
It is important to us that we fit the right dog for you. We want to talk to you and have video calls to get to know one another and for you to see the puppies. Once they puppies are 6 weeks old, we will have picking according to the order of deposits received. They will be able to go home once they are at least 8 weeks old. If you live too far way and cannot pick up your new family member, we can make arrangements.
Q. & A. with Doug and Elizabeth
Why did you start breeding?
We got our first whippet Jake over ten years ago and fell in love with the breed. A little over two years ago we got Molly and decided we wanted to start showing her and start our own breeding program. We've got Liam this year. Our love and passion of Whippets drives us to make sure we have healthy, well socialized puppies.
What makes your program special?
We are a small kennel. We have 1-2 litters a year. All our Whippets are from different Championship bloodlines. We do not want bloodlines that are too close to each other in order to keep the breed healthy and to improve the breed. We raise them in our home where they receive socialization, training and lots of love. We want to make sure you get the pup that is the best fit for you.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black brindle, red brindle, and white and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
