I'm Loyce B., the breeder behind Hill Country Corgis located in Fredericksburg, TX. Raising well-loved, high quality Pembroke Welsh Corgis in the Texas Hill Country is what we do. We love our dogs and love giving others the opportunity to own one of these adorable creatures.
Q. & A. with Loyce
Why did you start breeding?
My first corgi was a gift from one of my daughters many years ago. Sophie was a red and white Pembroke Welsh Corgi with a huge personality. She loved to travel and we took her everywhere with us. Then came Molly. She was my first breeding female. On her first litter she gave me 8 beautiful puppies. I loved everything about the birth, the next 8 weeks, and the joy the puppies gave their new humans when they got picked up at my home. I was hooked! For the last 15 years of breeding, I strive to produce the best quality and temperament of puppies as I possibly can. These puppies have brought so much happiness to the people they have gone to live with.
What makes your program special?
We take careful note of each of our breeding dogs' temperaments, personalities and genetic testing results so that we have a good idea of the temperments of our puppies. We also breed not to have any puppies at risk for DM(degenerative myelopathy), vWD(vonWillebrands disease) and EIC(exercised induced collapse). Every puppy is handled every day starting at birth, and are socialized with any noise we can think of. We start the deworming program starting at 2 weeks old, and every 2 weeks until they are 8 weeks old. The first puppy shot is given at 7 weeks old, as well as a health vet check before any puppy leaves me. Please note that the puppy is only given the first puppy shot of a series of 4 puppy shots. You will need to schedule vet appointments for your puppy to receive the other 3 puppy shots as well as any other vaccinations that are age appropriate.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include fawn, red, sable, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
