I'm Becky B., the breeder behind Honeyhill shelties located in Akron, IA. I believe temperament is as important as quality. Not only do shelties need a good temperament for the show ring, but some will end up in great pet homes too. I do multiple health screenings on my dogs in an effort to prevent producing hereditary issues. I offer a health guarantee.
Q. & A. with Becky
Why did you start breeding?
I have loved the Shetland Sheepdog breed most of my life and although I began with a pet quality pup, I soon realized I wanted to help improve the breed by raising the best quality animals I could. I started with a mentor who guided me along the way and I am proud of the dogs I have developed.
What makes your program special?
I am serious about my program and keep my numbers low so I can focus on quality while also giving my dogs attention. I raise only a couple of litters a year and am fussy about placement. I have been successful raising and also selling puppies who have become successful in the conformation and performance rings, but many of my pups go to pet homes where they become a significant family member.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blue merle white and tan, black white and tan, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
