Meet the breeder

I'm Angelina D., the breeder behind Hot Dog Haven located in Fort Wayne, IN. Our breeding program is built on a simple foundation: a deep love for dachshunds and a commitment to raising them the right way. We focus on health, temperament, and breed standard — ensuring each pup grows into a happy, well-adjusted companion. Every adoption is personal. From the first hello to the day your puppy comes home, we’re here to guide you through the journey. Our goal isn’t just to place dachshunds in homes, but to match families with their perfect lifelong friend.

Q. & A. with Angelina

  • Why did you start breeding?

We started small, raising our dachshunds as family members first. Over time, we realized that with the right care and intentional breeding, we could give other families the same experience we love—healthy, happy dachshunds raised in a home environment. For us, breeding isn’t just about puppies—it’s about building a lifelong community of families who love this breed as much as we do.
  • What makes your program special?

Our breeding program is special because we combine ethical, small-scale breeding with a deep focus on health, temperament, and early socialization. Each puppy is raised in a loving home environment, carefully prepared for family life, and backed by our long-term commitment to both the dogs and the families who adopt them.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include red, blue and tan, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

We had a great experience with Angelina from the beginning and all through the process. She sent updates and kept us posted with photos and information. Then when we met to pick up our pup she was very helpful and gave us a care package and instructions to care for our new pup. I would highly recommend working with this breeder if you are looking for a beautiful pet quality Dachshund. I would work with them again for my next pup!!
