Meet the breeder

I'm Julia U., the breeder behind Hudson’s Hounds located in Squires, MO. Our dogs are bred to have top qualities that all families want in their puppies, such as compassion, patience, and love! We are a small, family-run breeding program focusing on quality care, and good health. We truly feel that our puppies are the perfect loving and loyal companions, whether you’ve owned dachshunds your whole life or not!

Q. & A. with Julia

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got my first dachshund when I was 10 years old, and I had my first litter when I was 12 years old. After I got my first, I was in love with the loyalty and bravery the breed had to offer. I wanted everyone to get to experience that same kind of love that a dachshund has to offer. There truly is nothing like the love of a dachshund, and I feel like every child should get to experience that.
  • What makes your program special?

My breeding program is so much more than just a program. It’s a family that dogs are apart of, and the puppies are raised as part of our family from day one, with our boys being in the whelping box right along side me and the momma. We start intentionally handling at three days of age. Early exposure is so important to raise a grounded puppy.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, chocolate, chocolate and cream, chocolate and tan, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Julia is an amazing breeder. She always kept me updated on Bingo(Nyra) she was quick to respond, she was able to answer all my questions, and overall a breeder I would 100% go to in the future for my next dachshund.

I could not be more happy with the process of getting my puppy from Julia! Not only was she so communicative and responsive, but she also is so knowledgeable on the breed and willing to answer any questions. This lil guy has quickly become my whole world!

I cannot recommend Julia enough as a breeder on the Good Dog app. I recently purchased a miniature cream dachshund from her and the experience was absolutely wonderful. Julia was incredibly professional, kind, and responsive throughout the entire process. She sent regular updates of the puppy and was always available to answer any questions I had. One of the best parts of the experience was that Julia's uncle delivered the puppy to us. It was such a nice touch to know that he was traveling with a family member who truly cared about him. The puppy himself is absolutely amazing. He has a great personality, is super chill and mellow, and loves kids, kisses, and cuddles. It's clear that Julia raises her puppies with a lot of love and care. Even a couple of months after bringing the puppy home, Julia is still available to answer any questions I have. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful breeder and would not hesitate to recommend Julia to anyone looking for a new furry family member. Thank you, Julia, for everything!

From the minute I inquired about my puppy, Julia was super responsive and able to provide daily updates including photos and videos. Her dogs are a part of her family and you can definitely tell that she dedicates the time to enriching and exposing each puppy in the early stages as they prepare to go to their forever homes. I had a long haul flight from MO to CA and My puppy did so well on the flight and he is an absolute doll! Would recommend Hudson’s Hounds and Julia to anyone seeking a dachshund :)
