Q. & A. with Melody
Why did you start breeding?
We come from a long line of cattle ranchers/farmers. So Australian shepherds was a natural fit for us when looking for a dog many years ago. Our girls fell in love with them at a young age as did we. As the daughter of a veterinarian, I grew up around all kinds of animals and always knew I wanted to raise puppies on our farm/ranch.
What makes your program special?
We work hard to improve on each litter, we focus on the breed standards/characteristics and promote good genetics to ensure quality, pure bred dogs.
We also strive to fit each dog with the perfect family!
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include tiny and miniature sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, red merle, red, and black. Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?

Good level
Hunt Farms Australian Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
