I'm Tracy W., the breeder behind Intention Hill Belgian Shepherds located in Gifford, WA. I breed Belgian Tervuren with a goal of balanced drives, solid character, desire to please, good health and athletic structure.
Q. & A. with Tracy
Why did you start breeding?
I purchased my first purpose bred dog due to health/character challenges found in my rescues. I had begun investing in SAR as a professional, volunteer endeavor, and needed guarantees. I purchased a Tervuren sired by a dog who was himself SAR certified, and had produced SAR offspring. Savannah became my first dog to certify, came with a breeding contract, and that breeder became my mentor.
What makes your program special?
I find that most breeders focus on conformation and type, or focus on protection sports or high-level agility. I wanted to see the dog that was not extreme in either direction, possessing acceptable breed type, balanced drives, and solid nerves. It is a balancing act. I will not sacrifice character, health or drives for a set of pretty ears, nor will I accept extremes lacking type or balance.
