Meet the breeder
I'm Karen & Will L., the breeder behind Ironcreek Labs LLC located in Thurmont, MD. We raise health tested, quality AKC American Field Labrador Retrievers on our 50-acre farm located at the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains. All our dogs are treated like family. They sleep in the house with us and help with daily farm chores. Many of them also successfully perform in AKC Hunt Tests and are excellently trained. We look forward to connecting with you!

Why did you start breeding?
As recent empty nesters, we purchased a fox red Lab and were drawn successfully into AKC hunt tests for our new pup. Thoroughly enjoying it all and having spent childhoods around the breeding world, along with the space on our 50-acre farm, we chose to re-enter raising dogs and puppies with our various resources in order to bring other families the joy we both have appreciated so much by owning Labrador Retrievers.What makes your program special?
We have a more family-oriented and holistic approach to bringing a new puppy life into the world. When you visit us, you will see dogs enjoying our farm. They are allowed to socialize in packs, which is a more natural way of living for canines versus traditional kennels. All dogs sleep in the house every night and are fed top-quality food, much of which is human grade. Our dogs work hard, play hard, love hard, and are part of the family!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Star
Star is incredibly intelligent with a true heart of gold. She is sweet at home and a great house dog making her a family favorite because of it. In the field she is smart with a good nose, great marking ability and drive who figures things out on her own very well. She is on the smaller side but that doesn’t stop her from doing big dog tasks and achieving her AKC Master Hunter title quickly. She loves to retrieve and is always the first to find the hard to locate throws.

About Sheba
We love our fox red labs however our 3 grown sons grew up with black lab mixes and pushed us to get just one black dog to make life complete. A trainer friend came to the rescue with a litter of black puppies with an outstanding Field Champions pedigree and the rest is history! Sheba is a tall American Field lab with an amazing shine to her coat. She loves to cuddle and retrieve and play outside.

About Ember
Ember is on the higher end of the energy scale and a very loyal family dog who lives to retrieve. When retrieving with our group of dogs she tends to be the first to retrieve back she is so fast. She is an excellent mother. She has a fairly smooth coat, less fur than a traditional lab, but sheds like a lab. She is a dark fox red.

Sully is a typical laid back lab who loves other dogs and all people he encounters as well as belly rubs and treats. He is of superior intelligence and is excellent at marking birds/bumpers and tends to be a thinker at times. He LOVES to swim and gets into bodies of water whenever he can.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
