I'm Lisa L., the breeder behind It’s a Hot Mess located in Lubbock, TX. I breed with passion and integrity so we’re able to responsibly contribute to growing this amazing breed. It’s important for me to share my love of this breed with others. I lost my first boy when he was only 8 yrs and it set me on my path to breeding. They really are amazing in every way and have had my heart for over 10 years.

Why did you start breeding?
My MIL has bred doxies for years before I ever met my husband. She is where I got my first dachshund and sadly in 2021, my Mr. Rolo was lost in a tragic accident. I had to fill a void and find a dachshund to help me heal. My area of Texas had nothing to offer. So, I decided to embark on breeding these beautiful animals and making them available to people like me, closer to my hometown. I think they are amazing for families & kids and want to share that passion.What makes your program special?
I have a very small “program”, if that’s what you want to call it. I don’t believe in kennels or making them stay outside. My dogs all sleep with me, go on trips and always under my feet. I am their human and they are my babies. I embark dna test to make sure they are the healthiest possible with great demeanors. I hold myself to a high standard in all aspects, that includes my program.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $2,100 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Rowan is an amazing and proven sire in my crew. He stole my heart from the start. This red boy has the softest coat I’ve ever felt for a smooth coat.
