Q. & A. with Melinda
Why did you start breeding?
I grew up in the breeding/ AKC show world because of my father. He used to raise and show top quality Chihuahua’s and Pomeranians. Our first Doberman was when I was 11 years old, her name was Daisy, she started my love for the breed and I knew I would always have a Doberman in my life, they are the most loyal and loving breed out there! And now my goal is to improve their health and longevity.
What makes your program special?
We breed European Dobermans with a focus on health screenings to ensure genetic soundness.
We also focus on longevity by breeding from long-lived lines to extend life expectancy.
Another important attribute is temperament, we focus on breeding balanced, confident, and intelligent dogs ideal for families, service and protection.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and rust and red and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
JM Dobermans reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Doberman Pinschers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
DNA Disease Panel, von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
