I'm Eric J., the breeder behind Johnson's Australian Shepherds located in Orem, UT. Our Aussie pups are home-raised. We put a lot of care into socializing them so they can transition easily into their new lives. Our focus is on breeding healthy and happy puppies that can bring just as much joy to their families as our dog does for us. We are very hands-on with our puppies and give them plenty of unconditional love and attention!
Q. & A. with Eric
Why did you start breeding?
I grew up with dogs and begged Eric for a family dog throughout our 15+ years of marriage. Although we both knew it would a good bit of work, we finally agreed to give it a go. When we decided on an Australian Shepherd, finding a good bred dog was surprisingly more difficult than we thought it would be. It was sad to see that there were many breeders that had not taken precautions to help prevent genetic problems in their pups, and also had me cringing at the birthing environments that these prospective doggy moms had to use to have their pups. We searched for months to find a responsible breeder that had done all of the testing that our research backed up and when we found Abby it just all felt right! We discovered too that it would take investing a pretty penny to get the dog that fit the bill. The idea then came to breed Abby to help pay for her and we, both Eric and I, fell in love with Abby and the breeding experience. It is so good for our kids and has brought so much joy to our family to provide these exceptional pups for people that also want a superior dog experience!
What makes your program special?
We are parents of six children and know how hard pregnancy can be. Although motherhood has many rewards, it takes its toll on a body for sure. We want to make sure that Abby's health and happiness is in our best interest and that she has her much needed breaks between breeding her.
Abby comes from a blood line of show dog champions registered through the American Stock Dog Registry. Although we have never done a show with Abby, we want to keep this exceptional heritage going and make sure that we take great care in choosing studs that fit our standards.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include tiny and miniature sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
